Certificate revocation

Certificate revocation is the process that renders a certificate irreversibly invalid.

When should a certificate revocation request be submitted

  • If the private key has been compromised or if there is reasonable suspicion that the private key has been compromised
  • If there is a reasonable suspicion that the user’s crypto device (smart card / flash drive), private key or activation data are no longer in the sole possession of the signatory, i.e., the custodian or creator of the seal, or if they are stolen
  • In the event of loss or permanent unavailability of the private key
  • If the signatory / custodian / authorised representative is no longer associated with the business entity
  • If the certificate is not issued in accordance with the request
  • If a piece of information in the certificate is no longer correct
  • In cases where it is required by law or other regulation

Before confirming or disproving the above suspicions, instead of revocation, you can request suspension of the certificate, i.e., make the certificate temporarily invalid.
